HSR Fact Sheets
In 2008 the CFMEU Forestry and Furnishing Products Division participated in a WorkSafe Victoria project aimed at supporting Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) in their workplaces. The project included assisting sites with recruitment of HSRs; facilitating legislations training; participating in OHS Committee meetings and HSR networking activities. Key outcomes of the project included a 25% increase in Designated Work Groups and a 40% increase in HSRs across the target sectors.
In addition to this the project identified six (6) key topics that:
- Are relevant to the industry sector
- HSRs want more information about
- Impact upon workers compensation
- Require strategic management to improve
These topics are:
- Manual Handling
- Wood Dust
- Pedestrians and Forklifts
- Bullying
- Hazardous Substances and Dangerous Goods (Chemicals)
- HSR Training Rights
Basic fact sheets have been produced on each of these topics. The fact sheets include reference points for HSRs to go for further information. They can also be pinned on noticeboards as a small poster or flyer and have a space for the names of the DWG HSR and union organiser.
